Mapping Google Docs Variables with Linked Records in Airtable
There is no need to use rollup fields to access data from other tables.
When integrating Airtable data into Google Docs, you can map Linked Record fields and choose which field to return. This gives you greater flexibility and control over the data that appears in your documents.
How It Works
1. Selecting a Field from a Linked Record
By default, when you map a Linked Record field, Typflow returns the primary field of that linked record in the PDFs generated.
However, you now have the option to select any other field from the linked record instead of just the primary field.
2. Accessing Multi-Level Linked Records
If the Linked Record you selected contains another Linked Record, you can continue navigating deeper
Choose a field from the first Linked Record.
If that record contains a Linked Record, you can select a field from that record as well.
This process can continue, allowing you to access multiple levels of linked data.
Example Scenario
Imagine you have three Airtable tables:
Invoices (contains a linked field to Clients)
Clients (contains a linked field to Companies)
Companies (contains a "Company Name" field)
If you link an Invoice to a Client, and that Client is linked to a Company, you can:
Select the Client Name from the Client record.
Go one level deeper and retrieve the Company Name from the linked Company record.
